Fix out-of-sync subtitles
Subtitles too early or too late? Shift every SRT or VTT cue by any number of seconds, free and instantly, in your browser.
Use a negative number to show subtitles earlier.
Result
When subtitles appear a second or two before or after the speech, every cue needs the same correction. Paste the file, enter the offset in seconds, and download a re-timed SRT or VTT.
Use a positive number to show subtitles later, or a negative number to show them earlier.
Finding the right offset
- Play the video and note when a line is spoken versus when its subtitle appears.
- If the subtitle shows up 1.5 seconds early, shift by 1.5. If it’s 2 seconds late, shift by -2.
- Decimals work, so 0.25 shifts by a quarter of a second.

Frequently asked questions
What if the drift gets worse over time?
That usually means a frame-rate mismatch, which a single shift can’t fix. Regenerating the subtitles from the exact video with our subtitle generator gives perfectly aligned timing.
Can cues go below zero?
No. Any cue that would start before 0:00 is clamped to zero.
Which formats are supported?
SRT and VTT, in and out.
