Getting the recording off your phone
- iPhone Voice Memos: tap the memo, tap the ••• button, then Share and Save to Files (or AirDrop it to your Mac). You’ll get an .m4a file.
- Mac: open Voice Memos and drag a recording onto the desktop.
- Android: most recorder apps save .m4a or .mp3 files. Use the app’s Share option, or find the files in your Files app, usually in a “Recordings” folder.
Transcribing on a phone
It works in a phone browser too, because the transcription runs on your phone’s own processor. Choose “Fast” for short memos: it downloads a smaller model and finishes sooner. For long recordings, a computer is much quicker.
